Desert Precipice

This painting is represents a view across the Great Basin from a ridgetop. The Great Basin is located in Utah, Nevada, Oregon, and California. It is in the the Basin and Range Province characterized by mountain ranges separated by dry lake basins having no drainage to the ocean. This area is very isolated. There was no cell phone or radio reception (except at night) when I worked there. The only vehicle encountered during the hunting off-season was a UPS truck making a delivery to an isolated ranch.
